🌍 Overview

Angama Amboseli is not just a luxury safari lodge—it’s a high-end, immersive experience crafted for travelers who demand the best of both wilderness and indulgence. Tucked away in the lush, wildlife-rich Kimana Sanctuary at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Angama Amboseli offers unrivaled privacy, incredible elephant sightings, and the most dramatic views of Africa’s highest peak.

With just 10 beautifully designed tented suites, this intimate lodge blends bold architecture, world-class hospitality, and a deep commitment to conservation and community.

📍 Location & Access

Angama Amboseli is located in Kimana Sanctuary, a vital wildlife corridor between Amboseli and Tsavo, known for its large elephant herds.

  • By Air:
    • Kimana Airfield (closest) – just minutes from the lodge

🐘 Wildlife & Conservation Impact

As a traveler, you feel both privileged and purposeful. The sanctuary is managed by 844 local landowners, with conservation supported by the Big Life Foundation, ensuring real stakes for the local Maasai community.

Highlights include:

  • Super tuskers like Tolstoy (now commemorated on-site)
  • Night drives, which are not possible in national parks
  • Rich storytelling and mapping of elephant movements in the lodge’s central hub
  • Emotionally resonant guiding, especially from seasoned rangers like Salash Johnson, who worked for Big Life before becoming a guide

🛌 Design & Accommodation

Angama’s design language balances safari minimalism with artistic flair. Every detail—from elephant dung textures on the walls to acacia-inspired furnishings—tells a story.

Each of the 10 suites offers:

  • Private verandas with uninterrupted Kilimanjaro views
  • Outdoor showers and indoor-outdoor flow
  • Locally inspired interiors in chalk, charcoal, and chartreuse
  • Thoughtful touches: painting kits, stocked mini-bars, handcrafted décor

The accessibility-focused “Patty’s Suite” ensures the lodge is welcoming for guests with mobility challenges—though stairs in the main areas may limit access.

Angama Amboseli offers 10 tented guest suites, with modern, earthy elegance. Everything about the design is intentional—from floor-to-ceiling screened doors facing Kilimanjaro, to textured interiors that honor the Maasai landscape.
